When the sea split, hope was born.
Thousands of years ago, in the month of Muharram, a people stood at the edge of despair — trapped, terrified, with nowhere to turn.
Behind them: an army. Before them: the sea.
Then, God made a way. The sea split. And with it, fear gave way to freedom. Despair gave way to dignity. Oppression gave way to hope.
Today, that story lives on.
Millions still stand where Musa’s people once stood — facing impossible odds.
Fleeing war. Fighting hunger. Searching for safety.
But just like then, a path can still open.
Because mercy didn’t stop at the sea. It lives on — in you.
Your charity can part the waters.
Your compassion can bring them through.
This Ashura, honor the legacy of Musa (AS).
Be the reason someone finds hope again.
Give Where Most Needed
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar, a sacred month that marks the hijrah (emigration) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina to ensure safety and establish community. This month also commemorates the freedom of Prophet Musa (AS) and his people from the tyranny of Pharoah. Muslims are encouraged to fast on the 10th day of Muharram, in addition to the 9th or 11th. On the 10th day of Muharram, (Day of Ashura), the Prophet’s grandson, Imam Hussain (RA), was killed in the Battle of Karbala. This month is a time of remembrance, reflection, and increased worship.
