NARAYANGANJ, BANGLADESH March 15, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed Ramadan food packages that provided 142,857 meals to families across Rohingya refugee camps, Cox’s Bazar, and Narayanganj in Bangladesh, as part of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Approximately 600 families received food packages containing essential staples, including lentils, rice, chickpeas, onion, eggs, salt, chicken and cooking oil. Most beneficiaries were Rohingya refugees, women, people with disabilities, and the elderly, according to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal.

“When we hand over these packages during Ramadan, you can see the relief in their eyes and the gratitude in their hearts,” said Sherif. “Being able to support families so they can break their fast with dignity is a blessing for them—and for all of us helping to serve them.”

According to the UNHCR, more than 900,000 Rohingya refugees live in camps in Cox’s Bazar, underscoring the ongoing need for humanitarian assistance

Partnerships with local suppliers and community leaders support continuity of assistance beyond the project period, contributing to sustained impact in the communities served.

In addition to food assistance during Ramadan, Baitulmaal provides food, winter aid, and emergency aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. If you would like to learn more or contribute to these programs at Baitulmaal, please visit Baitulmaal.org.
