ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST April 28, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 6,600 meals to families across Ivory Coast during Udhiyah.
Approximately 375 families living across Abidjan received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows.
According to Usama Rashed, head of West Africa programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included orphans, the elderly, displaced, and disabled people.
"Beyond the nutritional value, these distributions create moments of happiness for our brothers and sisters who often face daily challenges," said Rashed.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Cadre Harmonisé analysis, Côte d’Ivoire is facing a “serious” level of hunger, with a Global Hunger Index score of 20.4 in 2025, reflecting ongoing challenges related to nutrition, poverty, and food access.
