UDHIJAH YEMEN

ALEPPO, SYRIA March 8, 2025 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed food packages that provided 446,400 meals to impoverished families living in refugee camps across Syria during the Ramadan season.

Approximately 1,200 families in Sarmada, Atma and Azaz received food packages containing staples such as pasta, beans, rice, canned goods and cooking oil. Families lived in Al-Fath Camp, Al-Salam Orphanage Camp, Jabal Al-Hoss Camp, and Ghita'at Al-Rahma Camp.

According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included orphans, women, displaced families, refugees and the elderly.

“Displaced families in these camps struggle to access basic needs," Sheriff said. “They rely on humanitarian aid, and we are grateful to donors who enabled us to come through during this blessed time."

According to the United Nations, over 6.7 million people are internally displaced in Syria, many of whom live in overcrowded camps with limited access to food, clean water, and healthcare.

In addition to providing Ramadan food packages, Baitulmaal has also provided fresh meat for Udhiyah, delivered hygiene kits and water supplies, and provided emergency aid to families in Syria. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
