Job Opening: Financial Manager – International Hub

Position Overview

The Financial Manager is responsible for providing financial leadership and oversight for Baitulmaal’s international operations within the International Hub. The position supports sound financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and financial stewardship across international offices and programs. The Financial Manager plays a key role in strengthening, harmonizing, and continuously improving financial management practices across international operations while supporting organizational growth, accountability, operational efficiency, and compliance with financial policies and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership and Oversight 

  • Provide financial leadership and strategic support to the International Hub and international offices. 
  • Support senior management in financial planning and decision-making. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial strategies that support organizational objectives. 
  • Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures. 

Financial Systems and Process Improvement 

  • Lead efforts to strengthen and standardize financial management practices across international offices and programs. 
  • Support the continuous improvement of financial systems, controls, workflows, and reporting processes. 
  • Promote consistency and efficiency in financial management practices across international operations. 
  • Recommend improvements that enhance financial accountability, transparency, and operational effectiveness. 

Budgeting and Financial Planning 

  • Drive the preparation of annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for international operations. 
  • Support country offices and program teams in developing realistic budgets and financial projections. 
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis. 
  • Provide financial recommendations to support resource allocation and program sustainability. 

Financial Reporting and Analysis 

  • Prepare and review consolidated financial reports covering international operations. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management. 
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. 
  • Support institutional funding and major donors’ financial reporting requirements and grant management processes. 

Oversight of International Offices  

  • Strengthen and standardize financial performance monitoring and reporting practices across international offices. 
  • Review financial reports and budget utilization from country operations. 
  • Provide technical guidance and financial support to country finance teams. 
  • Promote consistency in financial management practices while recognizing local regulatory requirements. 

 Financial Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure adherence to organizational financial policies, procedures, and delegated authority frameworks. 
  • Support compliance with donor financial requirements related to budgeting, expenditures, financial reporting, and supporting documentation. 
  • Coordinate with Program Compliance, Procurement, and other relevant departments on matters involving financial controls and risk mitigation. 
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with organizational and donor requirements.       
  • Support internal and external audits and facilitate implementation of agreed corrective actions. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting, including supervisory responsibilities. 
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, humanitarian agencies, or international development organizations is highly preferred.
