Gaza's Healthcare Crisis

Gaza’s healthcare system has been devastated, leaving millions of people facing critical barriers to essential medical care, lifesaving treatment, and maternal and child health services.

 

🏥 Beseiged healthcare infrastructure – Widespread damage has left hospitals and clinics unable to meet the population’s needs. As of September 2026, only 19 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals were functioning even partially, and none were fully operational, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

👩‍⚕️ Critical shortages of medical staff and supplies – Healthcare teams face shortages of essential medicines, fuel, and specialized personnel, limiting their ability to provide lifesaving treatment.

🤱 Maternal and child health emergencies – Disrupted maternity services and shortages of medicines and neonatal equipment put pregnant women, newborns, and children at heightened risk.

🩺 Limited access to essential and long-term care – Patients with chronic illnesses, severe injuries, and rehabilitation needs struggle to obtain consistent treatment because of shortages and constrained services.
