In Dodowa, a remote village in Ghana, every morning began with the same difficult journey in search of water.

Before sunrise, women and children lifted empty water jugs onto their heads and followed a path their families had walked for generations, two miles out, two miles back. The journey ended not at a well or a tap, but at a muddy pond shared with livestock. Its water was unsafe, but for the families of Dodowa, it was the only source of life for drinking, cooking, and caring for their children.

This daily journey cost families more than time. Children missed school to help carry water. Illness spread quickly through the village. Mothers worried every time their children drank.

"We knew the water could make them sick, but we had no other choice,” said a mother from the community".

Today, that story is beginning to change.

With the support of generous donors, Baitulmaal has drilled a 150-meter deep artesian well in Dodowa, bringing safe, clean water directly to the community. The well now serves approximately 2,000 people, replacing the long walk and the dangerous pond with a reliable source of life.

Now, mornings begin differently.

Children head to school instead of the water path. Families cook and drink without fear of illness. Mothers fill their containers with clear water, knowing it is safe for their children.

“For years, we believed this struggle would never end. Today, thanks to Baitulmaal, our children can drink clean water without fear,” said a grateful mother.. "

One well has changed the rhythm of an entire village.

What was once a long and exhausting search for unsafe water is now a source of health, dignity, and hope for thousands of families.

One well changed everything for Dodowa.

Help bring clean water to more communities in need.
