NAMPULA, MOZAMBIQUE February 15, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed  Ramadan food packages providing 44,857 meals to vulnerable families across northern and southern Mozambique as part of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Approximately 200 families living in Nampula received food packages containing essential staples, including rice, flour, salt, spaghetti, and cooking oil. Most beneficiaries were women, people with disabilities, the elderly and children, according to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal.

“As you can see, people are happy—you’ve brought real joy to our community. Their faces say more than words ever could,” said a community member. “If each of us shared how we feel, the words would be truly powerful.”

According to the Global Report on Food Crises, nearly 4.9 million people in Mozambique faced high levels of acute food insecurity.

The food distribution contributes to reducing immediate food insecurity and mitigating short-term vulnerability among affected populations.
