MALI, BAMAKO September 25, 2026 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently provided 100 underserved students in Mali with essential school supplies to support their return to school.
According to Usama Rashed, head of West Africa programs at Baitulmaal, the kits included backpacks, shoes, uniforms, notebooks, stationery, and other supplies.
“For many students, having the supplies they need can make returning to school feel a little easier," said Rashed. “We hope these kits help them start the school year prepared, and ready to learn.”
According to UNICEF, nearly 2 million children in Mali are out of school, with conflict, displacement and poverty creating significant barriers to education.
In addition to providing back to school kits in Mali, Baitulmaal has also provided Ramadan food packages and provides opportunities to build water wells and sponsor orphans. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
