UDHIJAH YEMEN

IDLIB, SYRIA February 26, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently completed the distribution of food packages that provided 97,857 meals to families living in Khirbet al-Jouz camps in northern Syria during the Ramadan season.

Approximately 500 families each received essential food packages containing staples such as rice, milk, beans, chickpeas, pasta, dates and cooking oil.

According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries were displaced Syrian orphans, the elderly, and women.

“For many families living in displacement camps in northern Syria, daily life is a constant struggle to secure even the most basic meals,” said Sherif. “Providing these food packages during Ramadan helps ensure that vulnerable families share a meal with dignity during this sacred time.”

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 16.7 million people across Syria need humanitarian assistance, highlighting the scale of the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.

In addition to providing Ramadan food packages, Baitulmaal has also provided fresh meat for Udhiyah, delivered hygiene kits and water supplies, and provided emergency aid to families in Syria. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
