COX’S BAZAR, BANGLADESH May 26, 2023 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed Ramadan food packages that provided approximately 120,000 meals for Rohingya refugees living in camp settlements in Bangladesh.

Approximately 500 families in Cox’s Bazar received food packages which included rice, sugar, lentils, salt, onions, flour, dates, and cooking oil – basic necessities that are otherwise unattainable for most of the refugees living in these camps.

The beneficiaries were men, women, and children who have faced decades of systemic discrimination, statelessness, and targeted violence, according to Elizabeth Sohail, program development manager at Baitulmaal.

“After massive fires erupted in Rohingya refugee camps, it caused many families to lose their livelihoods,” Sohail said. “Having these food packages prepared for them in a time of dire need is a Ramadan blessing.”

In addition, Baitulmaal provides food, winter aid, and emergency aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. If you would like to learn more or contribute to these programs at Baitulmaal, please visit their website at Baitulmaal.org.
