NEPAL June 10, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 2,790 meals to vulnerable families across Nepal during the Islamic season of Udhiyah.
Approximately 600 families received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows.
According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included women, the elderly and children.
“In the villages we visited, some families hadn’t eaten meat in months,” said Sherif. “To share a moment of joy and dignity with them during Udhiyah was deeply moving — it gave us all hope.”
According to Nepal’s National Statistics Office, approximately one-fifth of the population lives below the national poverty line — with rates significantly higher in rural areas.
