RUSTAQ, AFGHANISTAN May 31, 2024 – Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed to 280 students at Noorullah Wafa School in Afghanistan, to support girls education and promote inclusive learning environments.

According to Elora Bashir, senior manager of program operations at Baitulmaal, the kits included textbooks, stationary, school backpacks, and uniforms. Most of the beneficiaries were orphaned children from the Rustaq district in Takhar province.

“Many of these girls have lost so much,” Bashir said. “Providing them with the tools to learn is also giving them back a sense of normalcy, dignity, and hope.”

According to UNICEF, nearly 3.7 million children in Afghanistan are out of school, with girls making up more than half of those missing out on education due to social and economic barriers.

In addition to distributing  back- to- school support, Baitulmaal has also provided Ramadan food packages, fresh meat for Udhiyah, and delivered emergency aid to earthquake survivors in Afghanistan. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
