NIAMEY, NIGER February 24, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed Ramadan food packages that provided food for 76,286 meals to vulnerable families across Niger as part of the holy month of Ramadan.
Approximately 300 families received food packages containing essential staples, including rice, onions, dates, flour, and vegetable oil. As part of a broader initiative to support mothers and babies during Every Pregnancy’s ForMama Ramadan campaign, these food packages also included prenatal vitamins, and women were offered nutrition counseling and support.
Additionally, 1,000 hot meals were distributed during a community iftar where families gathered to break their fast.
Most beneficiaries were orphans, widows and the elderly, according to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal.
“Every distribution is about more than aid, it is about standing with our sisters and brothers and helping them feel supported in difficult circumstances," said Sherif.
According to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), vulnerable populations in Niger continue to face significant challenges in accessing sufficient and nutritious food due to recurring climate and security-related shocks.
