LOME, TOGO February 14, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed Ramadan food packages that provided 55,143 meals to vulnerable families across Togo during the holy month of Ramadan.
Approximately 200 families received food packages that contained essential staples such as chickpeas, lentils, sugar, rice, and vegetable oil. Vitamin supplements for pregnant women were also included in the food packages to support maternal health. Women in the community received nutrition counseling and support during the distribution. Aside from food packages , 1,000 hot meals were distributed during a community iftar, where families gathered to break their fast.
Most beneficiaries were orphans, women, and the elderly, according to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal.
“The smiles, prayers, and words of gratitude we received from families are a powerful reminder that compassion can make a real difference in people's lives, " said Sherif. “Women were especially happy to receive the additional vitamins and counseling that will help them on their pregnancy journey beyond Ramadan.”
According to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), vulnerable households in Togo continue to face food security challenges due to economic pressures, climate-related shocks, and limited access to resources, particularly in underserved communities.
