KHARTOUM STATE, SUDAN June 10, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 3,000 meals to vulnerable families across Sudan during the Islamic season of Udhiyah.

Approximately 600 families received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows.

According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included the elderly, women and children.

“During this sacred season, providing fresh meat to families in need is our way of practicing our faith —to care for the vulnerable and share our blessings,” said Sherif.

According to UNICEF, over 1.3 million children suffer from malnutrition in Sudan, with more than 17,000 children facing severe acute malnutrition.

In addition to delivering fresh meat during Udhiyah, Baitulmaal has delivered Ramadan food packages in Sudan. If you would like to learn more about or contribute to these programs at Baitulmaal, please visit Baitulmaal.org.
