N’DJAMENA, CHAD June 10, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 6,000 meals to families across Chad during the Islamic season of Udhiyah.

Approximately 1,200 vulnerable families received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows and sheep. According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included the elderly, children and women.

“This Udhiyah, thanks to our donors, families in Chad could experience the joy and generosity of the season,” Sherif said. “I saw children’s eyes light up as they received their meals, and elders smile knowing they are not forgotten.”

According to the World Food Programme, 3.4 million people in Chad are projected to face acute hunger during the lean season, with 1.9 million children under five suffering from acute malnutrition.
