KABUL, AFGHANISTAN June 7, 2025 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 630 meals to families in Afghanistan during Udhiyah season.
Approximately 130 families living across Kabul received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows. According to Elora Bashir, senior manager of program operations at Baitulmaal, many of the beneficiaries included disabled people, orphans, and women.
“Distributing fresh meat to those in need helps us all live out the true spirit of this season: unity, compassion, and care for one another,” Bashir said.
According to the World Food Programme, nearly 15 million people in Afghanistan face acute food insecurity, with women- and child-headed households among the most at risk.
In addition to providing back- to- school support, Baitulmaal has also provided fresh meat for Udhiyah, and delivered emergency aid to earthquake survivors in Afghanistan. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
