KHARTOUM STATE, SUDAN March 7, 2026 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed food packages that provided 182,857 meals to families in Halfaya, Sudan as part of the Islamic season of Ramadan.
Approximately 1,000 families living in Khartoum State received food packages containing staples such as rice, flour, salt, spices, powdered milk, lentils, and cooking oil.
According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries were families with children, widows, the elderly, women and people with disabilities.
“We acknowledge and thank Baitulmaal for standing with vulnerable families, especially widows, orphans, and women-headed households,” said an elderly beneficiary. “The Ramadan food packages provided vital support to many families in need in this neighborhood.”
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Sudan is experiencing the largest displacement crisis globally, with more than 11.5 million people displaced by ongoing conflict.
In addition to providing Ramadan food packages in Sudan, Baitulmaal supports healthcare through medical missions, and distributes fresh meat during Udhiyah. If you would like to learn more about or contribute to these programs at Baitulmaal, please visit Baitulmaal.org.
