UDHIJAH YEMEN

NIZIP, TURKIYE February 9, 2026 -- Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed Ramadan food packages providing more than 139,643 meals to impoverished Syrian refugees living in Turkiye during Ramadan.

Approximately 850 families in Nizip were supported with food packages containing essential staples, including dates, rice, sugar, flour, and beans. Additionally, orphan families in Akçakale received cash vouchers equivalent to 367,143 meals to help ensure access to nutritious food.

According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries were orphan families, women, disabled people, and the elderly.

“Behind every food package is a family hoping for a moment of relief during Ramadan,” said Mazen Mokhtar, CEO of Baitulmaal. “For parents who worry every day about feeding their children, being able to share a meal together at iftar means more than words can express. I was honored to be present with our beneficiaries, witnessing how our donors’ compassion is turned into hope.”

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 90 percent of Syrian refugees in Türkiye live below the poverty line, struggling to meet basic food and household needs.

In addition to delivering Ramadan food packages to Syrian refugees in Turkiye, Baitulmaal has delivered emergency aid,  fresh meat during Udhiyah, and medical support in Türkiye. If you would like to learn more about or contribute to these programs at Baitulmaal, please visit Baitulmaal.org.
