UDHIJAH YEMEN

ISTANBUL, TÜRKIYE, December 3, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed winter aid kits to 1,020 orphan families living in Istanbul and Kilis.

Winter kits included items such as heating coal, food, blankets, and clothing to help families stay warm during the harsh winter months.

According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included orphan families, and children.

“Winter is especially hard for children who have lost their families,” said Sherif. “These kits are more than blankets and food, they bring warmth, comfort, and a small sense of security during a very difficult time.”

According to UNICEF, nearly 900,000 children in refugee and displaced communities across the broader Middle East, including Türkiye, require winter support such as warm clothing and essential supplies to withstand harsh winter conditions.

In addition to providing winter aid in Türkiye, Baitulmaal has also delivered $5.35 million in emergency aid, Ramadan food packages, supported Uyghur refugee students with back-to-school kits and distributed meals to vulnerable families.
