ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST June 20, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 2,000 meals to families across Ivory Coast as part of the Islamic season of Udhiyah.
Approximately 400 families living in Abidjan, San Pedro and Bouaké received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows.
Many of the beneficiaries included displaced people, widows, orphans and the elderly, according to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal.
“In these holy days, sharing the blessings with others is part of our faith,” Sherif said. “The families we served, many of them widows, orphans, and displaced, felt seen, supported, and spiritually uplifted.”
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), nearly 1 in 5 households in Ivory Coast face food insecurity, with vulnerable groups like orphans, widows, and displaced families bearing the brunt of these challenges.
In addition to providing fresh meat for Udhiyah, Baitulmaal has also distributed Ramadan food packages in Ivory Coast. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org
