ABUJA, NIGERIA May 10, 2023 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed food packages that provided 24,000 meals to families in Nigeria in time for the Ramadan season.

The charity delivered food packages to 100 families struggling with food insecurity. The packages included items such as rice, pasta, sugar, canned goods, tea and cooking oil.

According to Elizabeth Sohail, program development manager at Baitulmaal, Nigeria is among a growing list of countries that the charity is expanding its relief efforts into.

“Baitulmaal began digging water wells in Nigeria to help provide safe, clean drinking water to communities in need,” Sohail said. “Our donors’ ongoing support for our work in the region has enabled us to expand our efforts and help provide other aid such as food assistance this year.”

Baitulmaal delivered more than 3.6 million meals to those in need around the world in Ramadan. The charity has expanded into Nigeria in recent years, in addition to other countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Mexico.
