AMMAN, JORDAN April 15, 2022 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently completed the distribution of food packages that provide 248,256 meals to impoverished families in Jordan in time for the Ramadan season.

Approximately 862 families received food packages that contained flour, sugar, oil, lentils and canned goods. According to Elizabeth Sohail, program manager at Baitulmaal, the majority of recipients live in camps and other low-income areas in Amman, Irbid, Jarash, Al-Zarqa and Al-Mafraq.

“Many of these families struggle to purchase basic food items on their meager incomes,” Sohail said. “These food packages really lifted the burden in time for Ramadan.”

Baitulmaal delivered approximately 4 million meals to those in need around the world this past Ramadan. The charity also provides food, water, healthcare and other aid to people in Jordan.
