ACCRA, GHANA October 10, 2023 – Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently constructed a multi-purpose center benefitting 340 orphans in Ghana.
According to Elora Bashir, program operations manager at Baitulmaal, this project aims to provide a high-quality curriculum and empower orphans through education. It also serves as a dormitory for many children.
“In Ghana, orphans represent the most vulnerable demographic,” Bashir said. “They require protection and support through education and comfort.”
According to UNICEF, nearly 623,500 children of primary school age in Ghana are still not enrolled in primary school and one out of four children in the kindergarten age range are not in pre-school. This project is among the efforts to improve access to education for children in Ghana.
In addition to building schools in Ghana, Baitulmaal has also provided fresh meat for Udhiyah and provided Ramadan Food Packages. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
