KYRGYZ REPUBLIC June 10, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat that provided 4,000 meals to vulnerable families across Kyrgyz Republic during the Islamic season of Udhiyah.
Approximately 800 families received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows.
According to Elora Bashir, senior manager of program operations at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included the elderly, orphans, women, people with disabilities and children.
“It’s inspiring to know that our efforts put nutritious meals on the tables of families who need them most this Udhiyah season,” said Bashir.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), over one-third of Kyrgyzstan’s population cannot afford a nutritious diet, and 72 percent of households rely on survival strategies to meet their basic needs.
